Sturgeon: Johnson should have gone earlier

Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon commented on Thursday on the reports the United Kingdom's head of government Boris Johnson is going to resign later in the day by saying that he was "always manifestly unfit" for the role "and the Tories should never have elected him leader or sustained him in office for as long as they have."

Still, Sturgeon blamed the crises the country has faced in recent years on the fact that "[t]he Westminster system is broken," which is why "it's time" for Scotland to have another independence referendum.

"Lastly, my differences with Boris Johnson are many and profound. But leadership is difficult and brings with it many stresses and strains, and so on a personal level I wish him and his family well," she tweeted.
