Erdogan: Grain corridor from Ukraine needed

Russian President Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Monday, during which they discussed the ongoing Ukrainian crisis and grain situation, the Turkish president's communications department noted today.

Erdogan emphasized that Ankara is ready to contribute to the continuation of talks between Moscow and Kiev, adding that the world needs an establishment of a "grain corridor" from Ukraine as the latter has accused Kremlin of stealing grain since the Russian special operation has started.

The situation is being widely discussed in Europe, with the bloc accusing Moscow of using food "as a weapon of war," even though the UN previously published a report, according to which world food prices have declined for the third consecutive month in June. On the other hand, Moscow claims that the West obstructs the export of Russian grain to some countries, with its president agreeing to open a sea route for wheat export from Ukraine.
