Putin to visit Iran next week, talk to Raisi, Erdogan

Russian President Vladimir Putin will visit Tehran on July 19, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said on Tuesday, where he plans to hold a meeting with his Iranian counterpart Ebrahim Raisi and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Peskov also disclosed that the parties would have a trilateral summit as well.

Yesterday, Putin had a telephone conversation with Erdogan during which they discussed the ongoing Ukrainian crisis and grain issues as the European Union accuses Moscow of using food "as a weapon of war." Russia continues to reject these claims, saying that it complies with its grain and fertilizer obligations and is willing to contribute to the grain exports from Ukraine and Russia.

In end-June, Moscow claimed Kiev had installed more than 400 mines in the Black and Azov seas to disrupt food supplies, while Ukraine expressed disagreement with the fact that Turkey allowed a Russian ship allegedly carrying "stolen" Ukrainian grain to depart from its ports.
