Biden to hold virtual meeting on CHIPS Act
United States President Joe Biden, who is recovering after contracting COVID-19 last week, will hold a virtual meeting on Monday afternoon with Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo, Deputy Defense Secretary Kathleen Hicks, chief company executives and labor leaders with $52 billion CHIPS Act legislation as the main topic, the White House announced.
The bill, which is currently advancing in the Senate, will "bolster America's competitive edge, manufacturing power, and national security," the White House added.
The Senate will likely pass the piece of legislation by the middle of the week, according to Fox News. The bill will then move on to the House of Representatives, where the last working day before the August recess is Friday, July 29.
