Sweden, Finland haven't extradited PKK members - Turkish FM

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu stated on Wednesday that neither Sweden nor Finland has yet extradited members of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) and the Fetullah Terrorist Organization (FETO), adding that the two Nordic countries need to adhere to the signed Memorandum of Understanding between the parties involved.

Speaking in an interview with the Turkish channel TV100, the foreign minister explained that if the two countries fail to follow the signed agreement, the Turkish government will not ratify their accession to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), exerting its right to veto their membership.

"Before sending it to the parliament, we need to see the fulfillment of the signed Madrid memorandum," said Cavusoglu. So far, 17 countries have ratified Finland and Sweden's NATO membership. Previously, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan warned that the country could "freeze" the accession process of the two Nordic countries to NATO.
