Microsoft leading plan to press WH on cloud deals - report

Microsoft Corporation is the initiator of efforts to put pressure on the United States government to start relying on more than one provider when it comes to cloud contracts, The Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday, citing unnamed sources familiar with the plan and a document it had had access to.

Microsoft is allegedly discussing with Alphabet Inc.'s subsidiary Google LLC, Oracle Corporation, VMware Inc., Dell Inc., International Business Machines Corporation (IBM) and Hewlett Packard Enterprise Company (HPE) to take joint action and get the White House to diversify the list of cloud services vendors.

The US and Canadian governments have been cooperating primarily with Amazon.com Inc. on such technology in 2021, according to data obtained by the newspaper.
