EIA: US crude inventories down by 4.5M barrels

Commercial crude oil inventories in the United States, not counting those in the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR), went down by 4.5 million barrels in the week ending July 22, the Energy Information Administration (EIA) revealed in its report published on Wednesday.

Crude oil refinery inputs averaged 16.0 million barrels per day during the same week, a decline of 292,000 barrels per day compared to the previous week's average. Refineries worked at 92.2% of their operable capacity. The production of gasoline expanded and averaged 9.7 million barrels per day.

The imports of crude oil averaged 6.2 million barrels per day, declining by 0.4 million barrels per day in contrast with the week before. Meanwhile, total commercial petroleum inventories fell by 3.3 million barrels.
