China vows 'serious consequences' if Pelosi visits Taiwan

The Chinese Foreign Ministry said on Monday Beijing will "not sit idly by" if United States House Speaker Nancy Pelosi visits Taiwan.

The ministry reiterated the visit would have "serious consequences" and that China will "certainly take strong measures" to protect its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Meanwhile, Taiwanese media reported Pelosi will arrive in Taipei on Tuesday night despite not mentioning the island in her official Asia tour itinerary.
