HK cuts COVID quarantine for incoming arrivals to 3 days

Hong Kong leader John Lee announced on Monday the city would shorten the obligatory COVID-19 quarantine for incoming travelers from seven to three days from August 12 as part of its plan to further relax pandemic measures.

"We need to balance between people's livelihood and the competitiveness of Hong Kong to give the community maximum momentum and economic vitality," Lee told reporters, noting the quarantine would continue to be coordinated through a mobile app.

The business hub started easing coronavirus restrictions at the start of July, marking a significant milestone due to mainly being closed for travel since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic.
