US opens mostly lower with focus on inflation

Stock indexes in the United States opened lower on Tuesday as investors awaited the inflation report for July expected to retreat from its multi-decade high of 9.1% in June. The earnings season continues with Warner Music publishing its third-quarter release and Coinbase coming up at the market close, among others.

The Dow Jones started the session flat. The Nasdaq 100 dropped 0.51% at 9:30 am ET, led by Lam Research Corp., which plunged 6.12%. The S&P 500 lost 0.18% as Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. sank 8.28%.

The euro traded 0.46% higher compared to the dollar and sold for 1.02429 at 9:33 am ET.
