China's inflation at 2.7% in July

China's Consumer Price Index (CPI) in July rose by 2.7% on an annual basis, the National Bureau of Statistics announced in its report on Wednesday. The reading was slightly under analysts' expectations, but up from June's 2.5%.

In comparison to the previous month, the figure in July saw an increase of 0.5%, in line with the numbers the market predicted.

Meanwhile, the country's Producer Price Index (PPI) in July jumped 4.2% on an annual basis. The PPI figure also came in below market expectations, which were almost double the reported increase.
