Russia: Switzerland 'no longer neutral'

Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ivan Nechayev said on Thursday that Switzerland is "no longer considered a neutral country" by Russia and, therefore, cannot act as an intermediary between Moscow and Kiev. Switzerland offered to represent Russia in Ukraine and vice-versa, an offer that was rejected by Moscow today.

"Bern has joined illegal Western sanctions against Russia," added Nechayev, commenting on the reason behind the refusal of the Swiss offer.

In March, Russia listed Switzerland as an "unfriendly country" following the sanctions, and it has recently expanded the list, limiting the number of employees the embassies and consulates can hire.
