US closes mostly lower amid economic instability

Major stock market indexes in the United States closed mostly lower on Thursday after the newest reports on initial jobless claims and producer prices in the country showed a rise on a weekly and annual level, respectively.

Meanwhile, in addition to economic hardships, the nation entered more tempestuous waters in political terms following the Federal Bureau of Investigation's (FBI) search of former President Donald Trump's home in Mar-a-Lago, which Attorney General Merrick Garland gave a further explanation for during a press conference earlier in the day. Shortly before that, NBC News reported the White House was unaware Garland was going to hold a conference.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose by 0.08% at the close as The Walt Disney Company soared by 4.75%. On the other hand, the Nasdaq 100 declined by 0.65%% with DocuSign Inc. dropping by 4.05%. The S&P 500 fell by 0.07% as Enphase Energy Inc. decreased by 3.41%. The euro gained 0.16% to the dollar at 3:58 pm ET, selling for $1.03165.
