Asia-Pacific stocks mixed, Nikkei up over 2%

Markets in Asia-Pacific were mixed in afternoon trading on Friday as China's COVID-19 cases hit a three-month high, while Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida announced he will ask his government to take additional steps to deal with rising food and energy prices.

The Nikkei 225 rallied 2.38% at 7:08 am CET. The dollar added 0.19% against the yen to sell for 133.264 at 7:09 am CET.

Hong Kong's Hang Seng rose 0.43% at 7:09 am CET. In mainland China, the Shanghai Composite was down 0.07% at 7:08 am CET and the Shenzhen Composite declined 0.18% at 7:00 am CET.

In South Korea, the Kospi increased by 0.11% at 7:10 am CET, while Australia's S&P/ASX 200 slid 0.69% at the same time.
