Taiwan sees 'rock-solid support' from US - report

Taiwan's President Tsai Ing-wen said on Monday that the United States showed "rock-solid support" to Taipei as another congressional delegation from Washington visited the island, the South China Morning Post reported on Monday, citing unnamed sources from Tsai's office.

During a closed-door meeting with US lawmakers, she reportedly confirmed that the two sides will be cooperating "on security and supply chain issues," among other matters that concern both.

Beijing "will take resolute countermeasures in response to the US's provocations," Liu Pengyu, a spokesperson for the Chinese Embassy in the US, tweeted earlier in the day. He also underlined that Washington "should bear all the consequences caused by relevant lawmakers' visit to Taiwan."
