US opens lower with economy in focus

Major stock market indexes in the United States opened lower on Monday ahead of the Federal Open Market Committee's (FOMC) newest updates on the Federal Reserve's monetary policy, which will be released on Wednesday. Other reports, such as those on the country's initial jobless claims and several companies' earnings, will also be published.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average traded by 0.46% or 158 points lower at the opening as Chevron Corporation decreased by 2.88%. The Nasdaq 100 fell by 0.18%, with CrowdStrike Holdings Inc. declining by 2.10%. The S&P 500 dropped by 0.47% as Diamondback Energy Inc. plunged by 7.76%.

The euro lost 0.41% to the dollar at 9:28 am ET to sell for $1.02172.
