Moscow to help IAEA visit Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant

Russia will do all it can to assure the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) specialists can come and visit the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant in southern Ukraine, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said in a statement on Monday.

Commenting on the previous European Union's statement on this matter, she condemned the Western accusations, according to which the IAEA is not allowed to send its representatives to the abovementioned nuclear plant due to Russia's activity in this region. The foreign ministry spokeswoman underlined that it was Moscow that convened the latest meeting of the United Nations Security Council related to this topic amid recent shellings by the armed forces of Ukraine.

Finally, Zakharova urged the West to ''exert influence'' on Kiev to stop its dangerous activity as Moscow will make sure the IAEA specialists will be able to visit the station and ''give a truthful assessment of the destructive actions of the Ukrainian side.''
