Europe closes in green ahead of major data

Major European stocks ended Monday's trading session slightly in the positive territory in what it seems to be a slow start of the week in expectations of the British unemployment data as well as the euro area's preliminary growth figures in the upcoming days.

The day so far was marked by significant volatility in the precious metals and oil markets, with investors carefully observing the latest developments in war-torn regions of Ukraine.

The DAX inched up by 0.15% at the closing bell, while the FTSE 100 rose by 0.11% and the CAC 40 climbed 0.25%. The euro declined 0.73% against the dollar to sell for 1.01842 at 5:34 pm CET, while the pound lost 0.50% to $1.20745.
