US Treasury yields up after data

United States Treasury yields increased on Tuesday after the latest economic data showed that privately-owned housing starts dropped 9.6% in July compared to the previous month and fell 8.1% from July 2021. Meanwhile, the country's industrial production rose by 0.6%, higher than what analysts expected.

Bond traders will look at minutes from the July monetary policy meeting the Federal Reserve is due to release tomorrow and will try to determine the course of action the central bank will take in the future.

The return on the 10-year Treasury note went up 6.2 basis points to 2.851% at 10:34 am ET. The yield on the two-year note added 3.1 basis points to 3.234% and the return on the 30-year bond rose by 4.6 basis points to 3.144% at the same time.
