Germany to delay closing of nuclear power plants - report

Germany intends to postpone the closure of its last three nuclear power plants as it braces for a possible power shortage this winter, Wall Street reported Tuesday, citing government officials with knowledge of the matter.

The decision, the report said, must be formally taken by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz's cabinet and will likely require a vote in Parliament. In addition, details are still being discussed. However, the conclusion is inevitable.

The move would mark the first retreat from a policy initiated in the early 2000s to phase out nuclear power in Germany. The German Ministry of Economy spokesperson denied the report, stressing that it "lacks any factual basis."
