Dollar, euro rise against pound after data reports

The British pound was down compared to the United States dollar and the euro on Wednesday after inflation data showed that prices in the United Kingdom rose at the highest rate seen over the past four decades. Meanwhile, the Eurozone economy expanded by 0.6% in the second quarter of the year and US retail sales were flat in July.

The euro went up 0.40% compared to the British currency, changing hands for 0.84426 at 5:46 pm CET. The sterling fell 0.48% against the greenback, going for 1.20370 at the same time.
