China 'resolutely opposes' US-Taiwan trade talks

China's Commerce Ministry said on Thursday that the country "resolutely opposes" the trade negotiations between the United States and Taiwan that started yesterday under the mandate agreement reached in June.

"China will take all necessary measures to firmly safeguard its sovereignty, security, and development interests," the ministry noted, adding that the country "still faces many challenges in foreign trade, as growth momentum of external demand slows."

Commenting on the latest chip subsidies bill signed by President Joe Biden earlier this month, Beijing argued that the legislation "distorts global supply chains of the semiconductor sector... China resolutely opposes it."
