Eurozone inflation rises to 8.9% in July, as expected

The Eurozone's annual inflation rate climbed by 0.3 percentage points in July compared to the previous month to reach record 8.9%, confirming market estimates, according to a report published by Eurostat on Thursday, with the reading for the European Union as a whole expanding by the same amount to 9.8%.

The lowest inflation rates were registered in France, Malta (both 6.8%) and Finland (8%), while on the other hand, the highest annual rates were recorded in Estonia (23.2%), Latvia (21.3%) and Lithuania (20.9%). The largest contributors to the soaring inflation continued to be price increases in energy products.
