Lapid: Israel still against returning to JCPOA

Prime Minister Yair Lapid reaffirmed on Thursday after a conversation with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz that Israel is against the revival of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and offering Iran concessions in exchange.

Lapid rejected the plan initiated by the European Union and backed by the United States and stressed that the Old Continent should not succumb to pressures Iran puts on it. He added the bloc must oppose what he described as Tehran's attempts to stall the negotiations.

Back in July, Lapid said, following his meeting with US President Joe Biden, that he is against returning to the JCPOA and defended his country's rights to impose measures it deems necessary in response to Iran's production of nuclear weapons.
