High energy prices should be addressed at EU level - Czechia

Czech Republic Prime Minister Petr Fiala stressed on Monday that the issue of high energy prices in the euro area should be addressed at the European Union level, as prices of natural gas continue to rise as the region nears winter months.

"I spoke this morning again with EC President Ursula von der Leyen. Ahead of the EU Energy Council, we want to find a way to help people and businesses that we can agree on with other European leaders," the prime minister wrote on his Twitter page.

The country's prime minister is set to meet with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz later today. Previously, Fiala revealed that the country's gas storage has been filled with up to 70% capacity, while agreeing with Berlin to establish mutual cooperation in the gas sector in case Russia decides to stop its gas supplies.
