Taiwan to take 'strong countermeasures' to protect airspace
Taiwan President Tsai Ing-wen (pictured) said Tuesday that she had ordered the military to take "strong countermeasures" to protect the island's airspace in the face of increased Chinese drone incursions.
"I have ordered the Ministry of National Defense (MND) to take necessary and strong countermeasures at appropriate times to defend the security of the nation's territorial airspace," she said.
In addition, Tsai restated Taiwan's stance that it will not provoke or start a war with China, but that does not mean it will not counter People's Liberation Army (PLA) provocations, especially when China is sending drones to Taiwan.
