France prepared for Russia's gas cut-off
France's Energy Minister Agnès Pannier-Runacher (pictured) commented on Wednesday on Russia's decision to halt gas deliveries to French company Engie, saying that Paris had been preparing for similar scenarios.
''The country is already reducing its exposure to Russian gas imports to 9% - down from roughly double the amount before the Russia-Ukraine conflict,'' she noted.
Gazprom's latest decision is connected to the fact Engie did not pay in full for its July deliveries, as per the company. The decision will take effect on September 1. At the same time, the Russian energy giant will halt its gas deliveries via the Nord Stream pipeline due to another maintenance work.
