UK allocates £700 million to a nuclear plant
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, whose premiership will end next week, announced on Thursday the government is allocating £700m to Sizewell C nuclear power plant located in Eastern England.
The plant is expected to power around 6 million homes and it received approval in July this year. It is referred to as a major asset to the country's energy security and will not only create new jobs and lower energy costs but fight climate change as well. The majority owner is a French company EDF, while 20% of it will be owned by China General Nuclear Power Group.
