Judge approves Trump's special master request
Former United States President Donald Trump received approval for his request to have a special master conduct an independent third-party investigation into whether some of the documents the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) sized from his residence in Mar-a-Lago were subject to the client-attorney privilege.
Judge Aileen Cannon of the Southern District of Florida District Court said in a ruling that a special master will review "the seized property for personal items and documents and potentially privileged material subject to claims of attorney-client and/or executive privilege."
Cannon thus also temporarily forbade the Department of Justice (DoJ) to examine the documents itself until the independent probe is concluded.
