EU to propose €200/MWh cap on non-gas electricity - report
The European Union is preparing a proposal that would introduce a €200/MWh price cap on electricity generated from sources other than natural gas, the Financial Times reported on Wednesday.
According to a draft of the proposal, the measure would simulate normal market conditions in the absence of a supply chain crisis and "the weaponization of energy through gas supply disruptions." Currently, energy prices are linked to the price of gas, even if they are generated in coal or nuclear plants, or renewable sources.
