Euro area's GDP growth in Q2 at 0.8%
Eurozone's gross domestic product (GDP) increased 0.8% in the second quarter of 2022 when compared to the previous trimester, a final report released by the European Commission's Eurostat revealed on Wednesday. The figure was slightly above the previous flash estimate. In the European Union, the reading was up 0.7% for the same period.
Year over year, the figure was 4.1% higher in the euro area and 4.2% higher in the entire EU. In comparison to the previous quarter, the Member States that recorded the biggest growth were the Netherlands with 2.6%, Romania with 2.1% and Croatia with 2%. By contrast, those recording the biggest declines were Poland with 2.1%, Estonia with 1.3% and Latvia with 1%.
The employment rate in the second quarter of 2022 grew by 0.4% in both the Eurozone and the EU compared to the previous three-month period. On an annual basis, the figure rose 2.7% and 2.4%, respectively.
