World leaders pay tribute to Queen Elizabeth II

Numerous world leaders paid tribute to United Kingdom's Queen Elizabeth II who passed away today at the age of 96.

French President Emmanuel Macron said he remembers her as "a friend of France, a kind-hearted queen who has left a lasting impression on her country," while European Council President branded her "Elizabeth the Steadfast." Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said he was "pained" by her death and United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres praised her "unwavering, lifelong dedication to serving her people." Other leaders who paid tribute to the Queen include Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi, Canada's Justin Trudeau and New Zealand's Jacinda Ardern.

United States President Joe Biden is yet to release a statement but he canceled a scheduled speech on COVID-19 vaccines after the news of the Queen's death.
