DPRK may launch a missile next week- S. Korea

South Korea's military has detected activity in North Korea, suggesting it may be preparing to fire a submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM) near its eastern coast in the next week, officials of the country said Saturday.

"We are closely monitoring North Korea's SLBM-related facilities and activities and maintaining a thorough readiness posture," a military official said.

The move comes a day after the nuclear-powered carrier USS Ronald Reagan arrived at the South Korean seaport of Busan before joint military drills by the two countries. The exercise aims to display their military strength against growing North Korean threats.
