Ukrainian grain not going to poorest countries - Lavrov

Russia's Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov on Saturday at the United Nations General Assembly reiterated Moscow's concerns about the ships leaving Ukrainian ports not going to low-income nations.

He said that fact, together with the financial and logistical impediments imposed by the United States and the European Union against Russia's grain and fertilizers, have made shipments to poor countries more difficult. The move has blocked 300,000 tons of fertilizer which is being held up in European ports and which Moscow offered to forward, free of charge, to countries in Africa, Lavrov said.

The foreign minister went on to accuse the Western powers of not just looking to inflict military defeat on Russia, but also destroy the country, "removing it from the global map."
