Europe closes with gains after BoE bond decision

European stock exchanges closed trading session on Wednesday in the green, after recording losses at the opening bell. The Bank of England's move to intervene in the bond market by temporarily buying government bonds in order to stabilize the market is likely what sparked the upbeat sentiment.

In geopolitical news, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen revealed the European Union's decision to seek fresh trade restrictions against Moscow that would deny Russia an additional €7 billion in income.

Frankfurt's DAX gained 0.36%, with Vonovia surging by 3.61%. The CAC 40 increased by 0.19%, as Capgemini SE jumped by 3.88%. London's FTSE 100 was up by 0.30%, with Land Securities Group Plc soaring 6.94%.

The euro was 0.43% higher against the dollar, to change hands to $0.96355 at 5:32 pm CET. The pound sterling rose by 0.17% against the American currency, selling at $1.07505 a minute later.
