Harris told Yoon US will look to solve EV issues - Seoul
United States Vice President Kamala Harris told South Korea's President Yoon Suk-yeol (pictured right) that both she and US President Joe Biden are "well aware" of Seoul's concerns about electric vehicle provisions from the US Inflation Reduction Act, Yoon's deputy spokesperson Lee Jae-myoung revealed on Thursday, according to Yonhap News Agency.
Under the law passed by US Democrats, only electric vehicles assembled in North America are eligible to receive subsidies. South Korea is concerned that the provision may represent a violation of the bilateral free trade agreement and that it would be disadvantageous to its carmakers that are selling vehicles in the US.
The two sides "pledged to continue to consult as the law is implemented," according to the White House.
