Biden: US to support Ukraine in regaining territories

United States President Joe Biden condemned on Friday Russia's "fraudulent attempt" to "annex sovereign Ukrainian territory" and vowed to support Kiev in regaining the regions.

"There actions have no legitimacy," Biden said in a statement. "We will continue to support Ukraine's efforts to regain control of its territory by strengthening its hand militarily and diplomatically," he added.

The comments come after Washington introduced new sanctions against Russia in response to Moscow's decision to include Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics and Kherson and Zaporizhzhia regions in its territory after all four regions voted to join Russia in referendums.
