Gold rises by more than 1%, silver up by 5%

The prices of precious metals grew on Tuesday, with gold and silver seeing an increase of more than 1% and 5%, respectively, in their value.

The rise followed the general optimistic sentiment observed in stock markets in the United States and Europe amid hopes some of the economic reports that will be released throughout the week might show signs of an easing of the ongoing crisis.

Gold rose by 1.24% at 11:00 am ET to sell for $1,720.77 per ounce. At the same time, silver grew by 5.01% to go for $21.15 per ounce. Meanwhile, platinum soared by 5.66%, selling for $933.82. Palladium jumped by 4.78%, going for $2,330.35 per ounce.
