Meta to shrink some of its offices on remote work expansion

Facebook's parent Meta Platforms Inc. is planning to reduce some of its office spaces as more of its workers have opted to work remotely permanently as an effect of the COVID-19 pandemic, the company's global facilities and real estate vice president John Tenanes told the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) on Tuesday.

"One of our jobs is to recalibrate our space," Tenanes said. "We're creating a smaller venue, and for the same amount of folks, but it's a smaller venue and we're hoping that really drives a life in the building: more energy, more activity."

The news came a day after it was reported Meta is closing one of its offices in New York in order to cut expenses and reduce head hunt efforts.
