Germany's trade surplus down to €1.2B in August

Germany's calendar and seasonally adjusted trade surplus stood at €1.2 billion in August, down from €3.4 billion documented in the previous month, according to the data released by the country's Federal Statistical Office Destatis on Wednesday.

Exports amounted to €133.1 billion in August 2022, up 1.6% from the month prior, and 18.1% higher compared to August 2021. Meanwhile, imports rose by 3.4% on a monthly basis and by 33.3% annually to stand at €131.9 billion in August 2022.

Germany's imports from other European Union countries increased by 2.5% and exports to those countries declined by 0.8% in August compared to the month prior.
