Putin orders transferring control over ZNPP to Russia

Russian President Vladimir Putin issued an order to have control over the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) transferred to his country's authorities.

The decree instructed the government to ensure assuming ownership over the ZNPP and its properties, the creation of a state company, and maintaining safety at the plant. Meanwhile, the State Atomic Energy Corporation Rosatom confirmed that Oleg Romanenko, the head of the Balakovo Nuclear Power Plant, will take charge of the ZNPP.

The order came after the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) confirmed in its Tuesday report that Russia's forces present at the ZNPP liberated its former director general Ihor Murashov, who was understood to be "with his family in territory controlled by Ukraine."
