Intel unveils internal foundry model
Intel Corporation CEO Pat Gelsinger revealed on Tuesday details on the company's internal foundry model for external customers and Intel's product lines.
According to Gelsinger's statement, the new model represents the "next phase" in Intel's IDM (integrated device manufacturing) 2.0 strategy. Intel CEO noted that the internal foundry model will enable the company "to identify and address structural inefficiencies that exist in our current model by driving accountability and costs back to decision-makers in real time."
Gelsinger announced that Intel's Corporate Planning Group (CPG) Senior Vice President Stuart Pann will lead the newly-established IDM 2.0 Acceleration Office. In addition to his existing duties, Penn will become the chief business transformation officer.
