US closes higher with major earnings reports in focus
Major stock market indexes in the United States closed higher on Monday as investors were bracing themselves for a series of earnings reports a number of important companies will release throughout the week. Tomorrow's session will see updates from Microsoft Corporation, Alphabet Inc., Spotify Technology SA, the General Motors Company (GM), and the Coca-Cola Company, among other firms.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average traded 1.34% or 418 points higher at the close as Amgen gained 3.72%. The Nasdaq 100 rose by 1.06% or 119 points, with Costco Wholesale Corporation jumped by 3.93%. The S&P 500 increased by 1.20% as HCA Healthcare Inc. soared by 6.97%.
The euro grew by 0.15% against the dollar to sell for $0.98732 at 3:58 pm ET.
