Nasdaq plunges 200 pts ahead of Amazon, Apple earnings

Major equities on Wall Street traded mostly lower deep into the session on Thursday, with Meta Platforms Inc. dragging both the Nasdaq 100 and the S&P 500 below the flatline by 24.29%, after the social media and tech giant revealed its revenue for the third quarter of the fiscal year dropped by 4%.

Following the closing of the United States markets, Amazon and Apple will publish their financial reports for the third trimester.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average continued to rally into the session, registering a 300-point jump or 0.95% increase at 2:35 pm ET, after its best performers, Caterpillar and McDonald's surged by 8.34% and 3.30% respectively.

At the same time, the Nasdaq 100 plummeted by 197 points or 1.72%, and the S&P 500 slipped by 0.39%. The euro nosedived 1.22% against the American currency, to change hands to $0.99634 at 2:37 pm ET, a day after it traded above parity, climbing back over $1 for the first time since September 20.
