GM pauses Twitter ads after Musk's takeover

General Motors Co. announced that it will suspend advertising on Twitter after Elon Musk took charge of the social media company on Friday. Musk stated Twitter will form a "content moderation council" and that no "major content decisions or account reinstatements" will be revealed before it convenes.

"We are engaging with Twitter to understand the direction of the platform under their new ownership. As is normal course of business with a significant change in a media platform, we have temporarily paused our paid advertising. Our customer care interactions on Twitter will continue," GM told CNBC in a statement.
