Russia says UK was behind Nord Stream explosions
Russia's Defense Ministry in a statement on Saturday accused the British navy of blowing up the Nord Stream gas pipelines last month.
The ministry said a unit of British specialists was involved in "plotting, organizing, and implementing" the "terrorist attack" on critical Russian infrastructure in the Baltic Sea.
The detonations of the Nord Stream 1 and 2 occurred on September 26 and caused "extensive damage" to the two underwater pipelines connecting Russia to Germany. The pipelines later suffered four gas leaks which stopped about a week after the attack when the pressure of water and gas reached an equilibrium.
