Europe closes higher ahead of data, US Fed's call

Major stock market indexes in Europe closed higher on Tuesday ahead of the next day's session that will see the latest reports on Germany's unemployment rate, trade balance, and manufacturing, as well as on the Eurozone's results in the latter field. Later on Wednesday, the United States Federal Reserve will unveil its newest decision on interest rates and monetary policy.

The DAX traded 0.56% higher at the close as Zalando SE jumped by 4.16%. The FTSE 100 rose by 1.29%, with Ocado Group PLC surging by 25.48%. The CAC 40 increased by 0.89% as Hermes International SA gained 2.79%.

The euro lost 0.16% to the dollar at 5:29 pm CET to sell for $0.98663. At the same time, the pound sterling dropped by 0.09% against the greenback to go for $1.14549.
