US initial jobless claims down by 1,000 to 217,000
The number of seasonally adjusted initial jobless claims in the United States slipped by 1,000 to 217,000 in the week ending October 29, the Department of Labor revealed in its report published on Thursday. The 4-week moving average fell by 500 from the previous week's revised average to come in at 218,750.
The advance seasonally adjusted insured unemployment rate for the week ending October 22, remained unchanged from the previous week's unrevised rate. The advance number for seasonally adjusted insured unemployment landed at 1,485,000, recording an increase of 47,000 from the previous week's revised level. The 4-week moving average rose by 30,000 to reach 1,417,500.
