Shanghai Disney Resort stays shut due to COVID

Shanghai Disney Resort will remain closed due to COVID-19 restrictions in China, the company announced on its website on Monday, with the date of the reopening still unknown.

The latest closure started on October 31, when one of the visitors tested positive for the coronavirus. The resort then became a center of contact tracing that led to stay-at-home orders and mandatory testing against the infection. "We will notify guests as soon as we have a confirmed date to resume operations," the resort stated, adding it would provide refunds or exchanges to all visitors affected by the curbs.

The disruption marks yet another closure for the themed park, which already suffered multiple lockdowns earlier this year due to China's strict zero-COVID policy. It was shut from February until August as part of the citywide lockdown of Shanghai, while it was also closed for two days in November last year over a local COVID-19 outbreak.
