US, China defense chiefs meet in Cambodia
United States Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin met for talks with Chinese Defense Minister Wei Fenghe on Tuesday on the margins of the 17th ASEAN summit, according to the AFP.
The meeting at the conference marks their first face-to-face since before US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's trip to Taiwan.
Her visit to the disputed island drew sharp criticism from China and prompted Beijing to announce live-fire military drills encircling Taiwan over the next several days.
